Letter From The Council President

May 2009

Dear Friends and Family,
As Mother’s Day approaches, I find this year especially reflective.  As many of you know, my daughter recently had a son and this is her first Mother’s Day celebration.  I am fortunate enough to have them staying with me and I can honestly say that it is a true blessing.  To have the ability to watch my grandson grow and go on adventures outside of the living room is interesting to say the least.  However, I count each day as a blessing and look forward to the many days ahead.
I often think of Jesus’ mother, Mary, and the sacrifices she made for her son.  As a wife and mother, I am always trying to plan ahead, think of everything possible to make the day go right, and trying to make sure that everyone is well taken care of.  Sometimes this is all done at the expense of my own well being.  Mary, on the other hand, did not have much time to plan ahead, make reservations, or much less figure out what the path of her life would be.  However, she seemed to meet the challenges the Lord put in front of her with faith and certainty.

Every minute of the day, the Lord gives us many challenges to overcome.   He never gives us more than we can handle.  When he made us, he provided us with the unique gifts and blessings that will help guide us through the greatest and toughest times in our lives.  During this coming month, and hopefully for many months to come, I look forward to meeting challenges and triumphs like Mary did, with the faith and certainty in God’s plan for my life.  My hope is for you to do the same.

Yours In Christ

Linda Jennings
